Contest Mechanics
- The Elimination Round will consist of 30 multiple choice items. The top 8 scorers in this round will proceed to the Final Round. In case of a tie, tie-breaker questions will be given.
- The Finals will have Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3.
- Round 1: 20 questions. A correct answer is worth 1 pt.
- Round 2: 10 questions. A correct answer is worth 3 pts.
- Round 3: 10 questions. A correct answer is worth 5 pts.
- The quizmaster will read each question twice before the timer starts. The question will be displayed on the screen once the timer starts. The contestants are allowed to write their answers even before the timer starts.
- Questions shall be given an appropriate time limit. Immediately after the given time has elapsed, the contestants must raise their answer boards; first towards the audience, then towards the quizmaster for confirmation. If a contestant fails to raise his/her board on time, the answer is automatically dishonored. The contestants with the correct answers will keep their boards up until all the scores for the current question have been tallied.
- If only 1 contestant is able to answer a given question correctly, the awarded points will be doubled.
- The contestant who garners the highest accumulated score after Round 3 will be declared the Champion. The second highest score will secure the First Runner-up, and the third highest score will secure the Second Runner-up.
- In case of a tie, a tie-breaking round will commence, where a series of tie-breaker questions will be given.
- Coaching from the audience or coaches/trainers is strictly disallowed. Breach of this rule can result in the invalidation of the question, or the disqualification of the contestant who is affiliated with a coach or trainer who, in the opinion of the panel of judges, has breached the rule.
- Only the contestants and their officially designated coach/trainer are allowed to raise a protest. Protests must be raised BEFORE the next question commences. Otherwise, the protest will not be honored regardless of its validity. The contest will continue while a protest is being deliberated, and the tallying of the score of the contestant(s) involved will be deferred. The burden of proof is on the contestant and their coach/trainer. The decision regarding the protest will be announced and will take effect as soon as it is reached.
- For all protests and all other procedural matters, the decision of the panel of judges is final.
