School of Arts and Sciences

Established in May 2009, the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is the youngest unit under the College Department of De La Salle Canlubang (DLSC). Currently, SAS offers the core or General Education (GE) program of the college which includes subjects in Sciences, Mathematics, Languages, Social Sciences, and Religious Studies. Following the mandate of De La Salle Philippines (DLSP), GE courses are being redesigned and further strengthened using the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework of Wiggins and McTighe. Focused on "teaching for understanding", the approach ensures that learning is more experiential, with emphasis on the real-world applications of the GE subjects and its connection to the degree programs. Hence, performance assessments are also carefully planned so that the full potential of the learners is nurtured. The GE courses are anchored on the Lasallian Guiding Principles (LGP), the DLSC Vision-Mission, and the Expected Lasallian Graduate Attributes (ELGAs). The school is composed of dynamic and seasoned educators. All the SAS full-time faculty members are holders of advanced degrees in their respective fields of specialization.
