DLSC Alumni Hold First Ultimate Disc Festival

The De La Salle Canlubang Alumni Association (DLSCAA) had their first Ultimate Disc Festival on Saturday, March 13, 2010. The sporting event, which was attended by more than a hundred participants, was held at the DLSC football field.
The DLSCAA Typhoons were joined by Ultimate teams from Tahanan – Southridge, Alabang and University of the Philippines-Los Baños. After a whole day tournament, Space Grapes from Alabang emerged the champion. Second place honors went to Rampage from Tahanan – Southridge and Mogu-Mogu from UP-Los Baños placed third.
Ultimate is a sport where teams score points by passing a flying disc in the opposing end zone, similar to American football or rugby. It is a thriving sport in the Philippines with roughly 400 active players in various clubs across the country.
Superior General of the Christian Brothers visits the Philippines
March 9, 2010, TuesdayThe Superior General of the Christian Brothers, Br. Alvaro Rodriguez Echeverria FSC, is in the Philippines for a 6-day visit. Br. Alvaro was welcomed by delegates from De La Salle Canlubang, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, De La Salle Santiago Zobel and De La Salle – Health Sciences Institute. A forum was held in his honor on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Ugnayang La Salle in DLSU-Dasmariñas.

The College Department of De La Salle Canlubang has entered into partnership with IBM Philippines, thereby gaining access to the IBM Academic Initiative Offering. This partnership will allow DLSC students enrolled in core IT courses to utilize IBM programs and educational materials and to enrich the learning experience of those enrolled in the School of IT and Computing.
The agreement was signed on Thursday, February 25, 2010 by Br. Joaquin Martinez FSC, President of DLSC and James Velasquez, Country Manager of IBM Philippines. Francisco Ferrer and Filemon Berba, Jr. members of the board of trustees of DLSC, Lissa Magpantay, DLSC College Dean and Oscar Benedict “Junjun” Contreras, Academic Community and Developer Relations of IBM Philippines witnessed the signing of the MOA.
