De La Salle Canlubang hosts Traveling Science Centrum, opens exhibit to students in CALABARZON and south of Manila

July 13, 2010, Tuesday

From July 12 to August 31, 2010 De La Salle Canlubang (DLSC) will be hosting Science on the Move, a traveling exhibition of the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology.  Science on the Move offers a fresh look on science and technology concepts through hands-on exhibits, offering practical applications to otherwise challenging subject matter.

The exhibit opened on July 12 with a simple opening program. Honored guests included Mayor Marlyn Alonte-Naguiat of Biñan, Laguna; Ms. Luhinia M. Ofren of the Department of Education Region IV; and Mr. Filemon Berba, President of the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology.

Dr. Julius Maridable, chancellor of DLSC opened the program by encouraging students to harness the benefits of science and technology towards the betterment of the environment.  His speech was followed by Mr. Berba, who expressed that he envisions these exhibits to spark the interests of young minds and encourage them to pursue a career in science and technology.

Science on the Move is an excellent tool in teaching science and technology concepts to grade school and high school students. The presence of the exhibition in DLSC makes this more accessible to students within the CALABARZON area, as well as to schools south of Manila.
